Chicago singer-songwriter Naomi Ashley’s songs are intimate, plain-spoken and gorgeously sung. Lyrically layered and drawing from folk, blues and country traditions, they surge with the contradictory impulses of real, imperfect life. Recently off the heels of the release of her new album Love Bug, Ashley brings her luscious brand of Americana back to the FitzGerald’s Stage for a special Mother’s Day show.

Member of many Chicago bands (Real Pretenders, Naomi Ashley Band, Rainy Day Women) Ashley is joined by her stellar “Other Band” featuring Jon Williams on guitar, Josh Piet on bass and Jason Batcko on drums.

More about Love Bug…

“The musical touchstones of Love Bug are Lucinda Williams, John Prine and Patty Loveless, among other country traditionalists with strong roots in folk music storytelling. The seductive rockabilly noir of the title song opens the album, but from there the songwriting takes listeners into unexpected places.”
--Mark Guarino, WBEZ.com

“The lyrics of country/roots music artist Naomi Ashley are poetic, instantly memorable—and they express wisdom of many different kinds. Ashley sings them in a voice that is pure lyrical honey. She is an excellent songwriter, breezing easily among traditional music styles. And she attracts highly capable musicians who share with her a soulful and highly skilled approach to playing.”
--Dan Ursini, Escape into Life

“Ashley's voice has an impressive range, and she's able to sustain her spell whether singing soft or loud--or in upper or lower registers. Equally arresting when accompanied by a bare-bones band or a nearly orchestral-sounding setting, Ashley knows precisely how to sell each song…wholly engrossing.”
--John Worley, Aiding and Abetting
