Joshua Jern's music is eclectic in style, maintaining a classic, almost vintage sound while weaving in such modern elements of cutting edge big band and fusion that makes his music feel familiar yet sound fresh and energetic. The music of the Joshua Jern Jazz Orchestra pushes some boundaries of how big band music can sound, while never forgetting to just plain swing! For more info, please check out www.joshuajernmusic.com

The Batavia Jazz Ensemble: The Batavia Jazz Ensemble is an extra-curricular, auditioned, traditional big band. The Jazz Ensemble focuses primarily on the historically significant music of the swing era, by composers such as Count Basie, Glenn Miller, etc, performing off-the-record transcriptions wherever possible. The Jazz Ensemble performs annually at the Northshore Jazz Festival and the Naperville Big Band Jazz Fest, as well as the Annual Batavia Music Buffs Gala and the annual Batavia All City Jazz Concert. The Jazz Ensemble is led by Brian Van Kley, band director, trumpet player, dad, car lover, and fan of all things space-ship & super-hero.
