DIBS BRASS BAND (9 pm): Dibs Brass Band is a conglomeration and collaboration of intersecting Chicago musical super powers playing music rooted in the funk styles of the Godfather JB, Modern and New Orleans Brass Band, The Funky Meters, FunkadelicThe Specials, deep cuts dub/ reggae, and Chicago avant garde jazz.

Dibs Brass Band approaches the music with the intensity and respect they learned from years of experience in the Chicago music scene, and their improvisations approach the ferocity of the most seasoned performers. Their music can freely go anywhere at any time but always grooves with soulful, foot-stomping funky consciousness.
MARIO ABNEY & THE ABNEY EFFECT BRASS BAND (7 pm): Trumpeter, composer, multi instrumentalist, band leader, master musician and regular on the HBO series Tremé, Mario first developed his chops in his hometown Chicago, listening and playing at Fred Anderson's legendary Velvet Lounge. Often compared to the genius of Miles Davis and leadership and insight of Art Blakely, Mario fuses the Art of Jazz music with the soul and freedom of his current home and birthplace of the music, New Orleans. Mario Abney and the Abney Effect embody the spirit of New Orleans and instrumental excellence.

Abney has been featured in the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival, the Rochester Jazz Festival, the Saratoga Jazz Festival, and many other prominent music festivals. He delivers the experience of a lifetime and brings the spirit of Big Easy right to your soul.

Mario Abney has shared the stage with Wynton Marsalis, Donald Harrison, Cyril Neville, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Nicholas Payton, George Benson and many others. Mario is a nationally recognized musician and independent recording artist and can be seen live in New Orleans and various other venues around the country.    YouTube Link:
