JUDY ROBERTS: The Chicago Tribune has awarded pianist/singer Judy Roberts the title "Chicago's Favorite Jazz Woman." Yet she is also recognized as a worldwide jazz star thanks to the success of her international recordings and concert performances. From the Midwest to Phoenix to Singapore, Judy is best known for her fun-loving approach to an eclectic and extensive repertoire, her hard-swinging piano playing, her ability to combine lush and sensitive vocals with rapid-fire scat singing, and for her unique ability to communicate with her audience in a relaxed and intimate style.
A multiple Grammy nominee, her twenty-plus album/CD releases include the "The Other World," whose hit single "Señor Blues" was number one on the jazz charts and in radio airplay; the album "Trio," with Ray Brown and Jeff Hamilton; the song "Twilight World," co-written with piano diva Marian McPartland (on whose NPR show "Piano Jazz" Judy has guested twice); and her international hit rendition of Dave Frishberg's "My Attorney Bernie." http://www.judyroberts.com
JEANNIE LAMBERT: Born in Lima Ohio, Jeannie moved to Chicago in 1963, after studying Ballet for 16 years. When she found that many Dancers careers end by the age of 25, she started singing where ever she could. Most importantly, she listened to fabulous horn players, including her long time, ultra-talented husband Russ Phillips. Thats how she learned to phrase & bend a note.
While performing at such area night spots as The Playboy Club, Andy's Jazz Club, The Green Mill, Green Dolphin Street, Pops for Champagne, Lush Life, Philander's, & Katerina's with many gifted musicians & big bands (including Judy Roberts, Andy Brown, Bob Dogan, Greg Fishman, Larry Elgart, Bob Stone, Eddie Barrett & many more). Jeannie has matured into the singer whom Larry Kart author & reporter for the Chicago Tribune called "hip, cool-timbered in the manner of Anita O'Day and June Christy".
Over the years, Jeannie has earned the respect of virtually every jazz musician in Chicago. Jeannie is equally at home in intimate clubs & cabarets, with any accompanist, trio or big bands. Jeannie has also performed at jazz festivals across the country & continues to please crowds of all ages & sizes.
"...blessed with an irrepressible musical imagination as well as the technique to give it life, Roberts stands as a first-rate Jazz singer..." --Chicago Tribune
