Country Night in Berwyn with Loves It, Crazee Heart and Cropduster

Thu, Jan 31 2013, 8:00pm - $5

LOVES IT was born in the vibrant honky tonkin' community of Austin TX in 2010. Vaughn Walters and Jenny Parrott, each veterans of the road, left their other bands to hit the ground running as a duo. Their homemade melodies and rhythms are inspired by folk, country, gospel and punk. Loves It plays with a veneration for tradition and a determination to bring a modern voice to their favorite sounds. In 2012 they will have played 197 (and counting!) shows in 8 countries! Kinky Friedman calls their debut album “Yay” “an American original, another step on the road to the stars.”

John Ballantyne and Justin Loftus formed CRAZEEHEART simply because they wanted to play their music, their way. So, they recruited their favorite drummer, Leslie Walle-Santos, and set about building a show that’s a 50/50 mix of originals and covers. It’s kind of Americana meets honky-tonk that always ends up rockin’. Their name comes from the old Hank Williams song, “Crazy Heart.” It’s one of those contradictory yet complementary ideas about life and love that you only get in their kind of music. They think anyone who is really passionate about something has to have a little craziness in his heart. You have to be a little crazy to love what they do.

CROPDUSTER is Nick Bachman (guitar), Glen DeMichelle (pedal steel), Theresa Drda (drums) and Buddy Carter (bass), four musicians trying to make Chicago safe for traditional honky-tonk country music.
