Sat, May 27 2017, 8:00pm - $25 - Tickets

Two roots music greats — Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Bill Kirchen — perform 2 sets on stage together. They'll perform their own songs and back each other up. Plus stories and conversation. Doors open at 7 pm. This will be a seated show.

JIMMIE DALE GILMORE: With his warm, warbling tenor voice and folksy, friendly approach to both his music and his audiences, Jimmie Dale Gilmore is an easy guy to like. His music is a rich blend of traditional country, folk, blues, and rock styles, and his lyrics reflect both his philosophical interests and his inherent down-home nature. Since moving to Austin, TX, and reviving his career in the 1980s, Gilmore has in many ways come to represent the current Austin music scene -- its rootsy mix of country, rock, and folk music -- the way Willie Nelson once reigned as king of the town's cosmic cowboys in the 1970s. BILL KIRCHEN: Grammy nominated guitarist, singer and songwriter Bill Kirchen is one of the fortunate few who can step on any stage, play those trademark licks which drove the seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten nationwide, and elicit instant recognition. Named a “Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Player Magazine, he celebrates a musical tradition that embraces rock ‘n’ roll, blues and bluegrass, Texas Western swing and California honky- tonk. Nick Lowe describes Bill as “... a devastating culmination of the elegantandfunky... areallysensationalmusician, withenormous depth.” Bill is an architect of what is now known as Roots Rock ‘n’ Roll and Americana, and still continues to be one of its most active proponents, playing, writing and performing throughout the world.
